Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (2009)

A Barterra exclusive! This Alexander Valley cabernet was aged an extra 18 months in oak and will continue to gain in complexity. Find out why Cabernet Sauvignon is among the most popular California red wines.

Wine History: 2009 was a stellar year for cabs, and this wine made exclusively for Barterra Winery is a king among kings. The grapes were grown in Delmar's vineyard high above the Alexander Valley, at Napa's northern end, where climate and soil are superb for Cabernet Sauvignon vines. This wine was aged in new French oak and second-year American oak, and the reserve was aged an additional 18 months in oak. Production was limited to 250 cases.

Tasting Notes: A luscious, full-bodied and slightly earthy cab, with hints of fruit, oak and chocolate and a long, smooth, finish. This well-balanced wine looks, smells, and tastes superb and is bound to impress. With your first taste, you'll know why Alexander Valley Cabs are world-renowned. Pair with filet mignon, any beef dish, eggplant parmesan, and mushroom dishes. Also delicious with chocolate truffles.
