Chardonnay (2010)

A Barterra exclusive! This award-winning Chardonnay from the prestigious Carneros appellation is well balanced and crisp, with a hint of oak.

Awards: Silver medal, 2012 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition (3,200 wines from 22 countries and 50 states).

Wine History: This fine Chardonnay was produced exclusively for Barterra Winery in a prestige vineyard on the Napa side of Carneros. The Carneros appellation is influenced by the sunny Napa and Sonoma valleys to the north and damp, foggy San Pablo Bay to the south, making it one of the cooler, windier wine regions in California. This magic combination allows the Chardonnay grapes to stay longer on the vine and develop their flavors to the fullest.

Tasting Notes: This is a classic cool-weather chardonnay, bursting with stone fruit and pear flavor, and creamy (not buttery) with lively acidity. The grapes are whole cluster pressed and barrel fermented, with 16 months aging in French oak, 25% new oak. Pairs well with white meats and tomato-based dishes.
