Chardonnay (2011)

A Barterra exclusive! Our award-winning Chardonnay from the prestigious Carneros appellation is well balanced and crisp, with a hint of oak and a rich golden hue.

Awards: Bronze medal, 2013 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition (3,200 wines from 22 countries and 50 states).

Wine History: 2011 was a terrific year for Carneros Chardonnays, with a longer season giving grapes more time on the vine to enhance their flavors. This fine Chardonnay was produced exclusively for Barterra Winery in a prestige vineyard on the Napa side of Carneros. The Carneros appellation in California is influenced by the sunny Napa and Sonoma valleys to the north and damp, foggy San Pablo Bay to the south, making it one of the cooler, windier wine regions in California - a magic combination for Chardonnay grapes.

Tasting Notes: This is a classic cool-weather Chardonnay, bursting with stone fruit and pear flavor, and creamy with a hint of butterscotch and lively acidity. The grapes are whole cluster pressed and barrel fermented, with 16 months aging in French oak, 25% new oak. Pairs well with white meats and tomato-based dishes.

Price: $39.00/bottle; $33 Wine Club Members
