Blackbird Merlot (2016)
This beautiful wine packs a powerful punch of juicy blackberry.
Wine History: Our wine features the blackbird label to honor the origins of the name - which comes from the French for "merle" - diminutive for blackbird, likely because of the deep dark color of the grape. The Merlot grape is a primary ingredient of the famous Bordeaux wines and is the most widely planted grape in France. Here in California, Merlot has been one of the most popular varietals.
Tasting Notes: This magnificent wine has been aged 20 months in 40% new French oak barrels, open-top fermentation. Bottled unfiltered. Just as the Blackbird enjoys rich fruit, so will you when you savor this wine's blackberry sweetness, with notes of leather, spice, dark chocolate and black tea. Limited production - will sell out soon!
